Michael Flatley’s Lavish Former Home: A Historic Gem in Little Venice
In a recent article by The Times, Michael Flatley’s former residence in Little Venice, west London, is highlighted for its luxury and rich history. It is now on the market for £26 million.
The Italianate villa, once home to royal mistress Lillie Langtry and later to the creator of Riverdance, features a custom-made Molteni stove worth £200,000, delivered via the Little Venice canal.
This exceptional stove, costing more than an average UK flat, underscores the property’s unique luxury. Flatley’s influence is evident throughout the 8,178 sq ft property, from a fireplace bearing his initials to a mahogany-panelled den styled on a gentlemen’s club.
Flatley acquired the Grade II listed, seven-bedroom villa in 1997, dramatically outbidding Madonna by £500,000.
His unique touches include a basement swimming pool with a mural of his Irish estate and diamond-patterned marble flooring in the entrance hall.
The home’s historical significance is enriched by its previous owner, Lillie Langtry, who entertained Prince Bertie, the future King Edward VII, in its English country garden. The garden still features a pavilion where the couple sat and stone lions guarding the entrance.
Although Flatley sold the house in 2004, many of his lavish additions remain. Estate agents have described it as “a generational house,” it is being sold for the first time in 20 years as its owners downsize.
